Dr Anja Zimmer, former director of the Media Authority Berlin-Brandenburg (Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg, mabb), is a lawyer, an independent adviser in strategy and policy issues and an expert in media and digitization issues. She writes about disinformation, media plurality and the role of intermediaries. Before that she worked as Executive Director of the German Federation of Journalists North Rhine-Westphalia (DJV-NRW), as a lawyer at the law firms Beiten Burkhardt and Lovells and as Senior Manager for Government Relations at Deutsche Telekom, in charge of media policy and regulatory affairs. She wrote her PhD about “Hate Speech in International Law” at the Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg.
